How much would it cost to repair corrupted RAM drives?
So my computer had 512mb RAM. I constantly get the BSOD so I was wondering how much ram I would need to stop from getting the BSOD.
I was thinking 512-1gig
How much would it cost (including manual labor of putting it in)?
Answer:
There are a lot of variables. What kind of RAM (DDR, SDRAM, etc...), buffered or unbuffered, etc.
Also, are you positive the RAM is the problem?
it costs about 250 were i live unless you get one used
depends on type of ram
and manual labor?? its ezier than putting a cd in a disc drive
512MB is enough to boot XP or earlier
remove and reinstall RAM to verify nothing got loose
remove and reinstall all connector cables to verify nothing got loose
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
put ultimatebootcd in cd drive run all the Memory Tests
run all the other diagnostics
to test for errors
hard drives fail more often than RAM
AND then cause BSOD
to make sure the RAM stick did not get a little loose
open case (machine OFF)
ground yourself ( touch the metal case to discharge any static electricity)
pop the white levers out
then reseat the RAM stick
manual labor of putting it in :
(can do it your self )
static leaches to ground yourself can be bought for $1
BSOD can be caused by :
corruption of RAM , Hard Drives
Damaged Cables
corruption of Registry
use ultimatebootcd first
to see if there is any bad RAM problem
QUESTION :
Have you tested your RAM ?
