How do i change my primary hard drive?
Thanks!
Answer:
there are 2 ways:
if your using an IDE cable notice there are 3 ports?one goes to your HD (which is primary port) and the other end goes to your Motherboard and middle one (which is secondary port)
Hard way:
connect your primary HD to the secondary port and your "used to be" external one to your primary port, but before that kindly check the jumper settings on your HD in-between of your HD's power port and IDE port (refer to the drawing above your HD)
Easy way:
go to your BIOS/CMOS configuration by hitting F10 or DEL then look for something that has to do with booting make sure both your HD is connected and choose which on you would like the computer to boot.
(and no you cant boot up using your USB type HD unless you put it in your IDE cable)
you would need to remove the operating system and install that on the external drive
set the jumper on the internal to slave. and make your external the master.
Do mean remove your internal hard drive and put it in an HDD external USB drive caddy?
That's about it really, take it out and put it in a USB HDD caddy.
You need to got into your BIOS, by pressing F8 when you startup your computer
First, you need to make sure if your BIOS supports booting off of a specific interface that your external HD uses. By "interface", I mean like external SATA, USB, etc.
