Why did my computer start beebing when I put in my new video card?
Answers:
Did you enable it in the BIOs of the Motherboard?
Is there enough amps on the +12volt rail? There should be a sticker on the side of your Power Suplply saying what the amps on the +12volt is, and look in the owners manual of your Video Card to see what it needs.
do u have a driver cd for it i think you shoulda installed that first if you have one
The 7900GS for the AGP bus requires more power than the AGP slot is able to provide.
So the card has a power plug on the opposite side of where you plug the monitor in. You need to plug a cable from the power supply into the video card.
In other words, READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING :p
What did you have before that? did you have on board video card? did you disable that before you installed the new one?.
Go to the motherboards website on a different computer and see what the beeps are, it's a diagnostic code you are hearing
make sure u plug in the extra power connector on the side of the card...if it still doesn't work...
a 205w dell power supply isn't gonna be able to feed a 7900gs...u need at least a DECENT 350w (reason y i say decent is because the no-name brands don't output a true 350w of power)
...#1 reason y i hate dells in particular is their low power powersupplies that cut away at the upgradability.
