Can i reinatall Windows Xp pro on my dell without using the reinstalition CD.?
Plese help
I want to return my dell to the state in which i bought it
Answer:
If you purchased a new Windows XP software package, yes. The license key that is on your Dell will only work with Dell software, it's a security feature, therefore you will need a new key.
You will have to have another PC as well, or get the drivers in advance, for your network connection (port or wireless). Although not a problem, most Dell PC's with built-in wireless or wired connections will not accept, or the system will not recognize, the network drivers on the Windows CD. Get the driver and save it your flash drive before you wipe your system clean. Once the OS is installed, you can then install the driver, reboot and then connect to Internet for remaining drivers (usually audio, updated video, modem, etc)
I would suggest calling Dell and giving them your service tag number and ordering a restore set. Specify you want the Windows Restore CD and Driver's CD, this will save you time, and you will have them in case you need them again. You can do this at Dell.com as well. It also beats spending over $150 on a new Windows XP software package.
When u boot up (turn on) ur PC, it has options @ the bottom of the screen... choose system recovery. That's the only thing I can suggest, which will bring it back to the last place (back-up) where it was working right. Otherwise, u have to use the CD. Or, check out microsoft.com for other suggestions/links.
Yeah, go to system recovery which will recover it to the last restore pint, and since most people never make one, it should jut gostright to the begining.
P.S. you will lose ALL files
