And i have several decoders installed. I have a nvidia one a cyberlink video/sp decoder and a cyberlink sac video decoder and yet the screens on all the media players i have on my computers are dark. i tried wmp,VLC, and cyberlink. interactual used to play without all the blackness but recently it just stopped working right after i launched it. Help please?

I too had this problem, my problem turned out to be my monitor, after I replaced it, everything was bright again =)
If you have a newer video card and are using Windows, a workaround can be found on the link below.
video card maybe getting bad
If your computer processer is less than 600mhz, you will/may have problems. Why not play the DVD with Windows Media Player version 11 and install the codec for the DVD player? If it works, then uninstall all those 3rd party DVD players.
