I have a 512 Mb LG 'mirror' USB pen drive, how do I set the password on it?

It's my understanding that a 3rd party software is needed to password protect USB flash drives (AKA thumb drives, pen drives, etc.)

Some newer units include U3 technology that includes password protection software with the drive.

If your LG came with a setup disk you might check to see if it has any encryption programs included. Or you might want to contact LG and see what they say:
