How easy is it...?

My laptop died on me yesterday, very sad, but how easy is it and is it possible for someone to remove the hard drive for me, and in some way connect it (either by putting it into or just connecting) to a new computer? So I don't lose my data?
Cheers

Actually it's pretty easy. Assuming the drive is still good, you can just buy a USB to EIDE cable to hook it up to your new computer or a friends computer and pull the files you want off of it. From there you can copy the files on a CD, DVD, or USB drive. Or if you're getting a new computer you can just copy the files you want directly to it.

Here's an example of the adapter cable...

You can get these everywhere. Just shop for the best price.
