ive been looking at acer desktops and laptops lately moss,as im planning on getting a laptop from brighthouse stores,take a look...http://www.brighthouse.info/products/per...
they are good all round p.c,s/laptops using good components,the laptop i am getting only uses shared graphics(borrows of main memory up to 224mb)but as its not for games/videos and just internet browsing its ideal
however brighthouse do better model such as the aspire t671(http://www.brighthouse.info/products/per...
the aspire t180 sempron is a good standard desktop p.c,wont win anything in the power p.c catergory,but its got solid components which wont let you down
the AMD Sempron 3200 1.80GHz Processor has long been a processor for users who want a reliable processor but not to pay through the roof for it
the 80gb hard drive may seem a bit small in todays standards,however i only use 2 x 80gb drives and very rarely use (if ever)the second 80gb drive,remember 80gb is a hell of a lot of space(80,000megabytes)
512mb ram again is a standard amount for xp home,however if your going to upgrade to vista you will need at least 1gb,but a second 512mb module will only cost around £35 this wont be too expensive
the nvidia geforce 6100 chip is a onboard graphics solution and will suit your needs if your just browsing the internet and playing the less demanding games,however a graphics card upgrade wont be too expensive,a card such as the nvidia geforce 7600gs can be bought for around £60 and is a excellent gaming card
the dvdrw is a standard drive,it will burn all kinds of media including dvd-/+r/rw and cd-/+r/rw
and finally windows xp home ,although succeded by vista is a good operating system,its seen the test of time and will never let you down
so overall a good p.c,its componenets wont win any speed records,however theres lots of scope for upgrades in this p.c,and plenty of space for them

Unfortunately the Acer Aspire t180 [especially] suffers from any number of problems. That's why it is offered as "refreshed" units at Tigerdirect.com. Even though the price is very low and tempting, I would pass on this purchase.
