Will my USB hard drive transfer files faster if I plug it directly into my computer instead of a USB hub?

I have a 250 GB Western Digital MyBook external hard drive. I have it hooked to my computer through a powered USB hub, and I was just wondering if there would be any benefit to plugging directly into the computer instead of through the hub?

Answers:
Same performance. eSATA ll interface is currently the fastest, faster than Firewire and USB 2.0. Details here:

Shouldn't make any difference. When in doubt, go straight in, but there shouldn't be any noticeable difference.
If it is powered there would be little difference in transfer speed.

Hopefully more manufactures will add eSata ports.
