Geforce 4 installation?
upon booting on it hasnt recognised it and installing graphics drivers are impossible because it doesnt think its there
so whats up?
and is it possible i just didnt push it down hard enough?

The problem may due to diver crush. Install a new one by visiting Nvidia website.

If you screwed it down I suspect it is inserted correctly. Did the system have a AGP card before this one? If not, check your bios to see if you can select the AGP as the primary video. It's in there somewhere, got to look for it. Sometimes systems are set to boot on-board or PCI video. It should have been automatic but I just fixed a friend's computer who was doing the same thing you described. Other than that, make sure the card is good. I would doubt the card is bad though.
