Why wont my dvd burner read any dvd's?

I have an HP dvd740i Double layer dvd burner; but suddenly it won't read any blank dvd's or movie dvd's like it did before.
Now it only reads data or music cd's
Has anyone have this happen before?? Is there a way to fix this?
HELP

Answer:
There are two lasers in a DVD burner. One for DVDs and one for CDs. If you can't read DVDs then that laser is probably dead.
