Another 8800 Ultra Question?
(AND AGAIN, PLEASE NO DUMB ANSWERS AND NO PEOPLE CURSING ME OUT FOR BUYING THIS CARD, AND SAYING THAT IM RICH, AND IM ACTUALLY NOT, ITS JUST SAVINGS)
Thank You
Answers:
Yes, as long as the 8800 Ultra you purchase in the future is made by the same manufacturer you'll be fine! Infact, if I remember correctly a GTX will even work with it - but don't hold me to that...
In the near future, NVidia has stated that with new drivers you will be able to use different manufacturer's as well.
So to give you a simple answer - YES you can safely purchase an 8800 Ultra now and have absolutely no problems adding another later, as long as they are the same brand.
With the "no answer" answer below...
A single 8800 Ultra will not draw that much power even under heavy load. I'd say an Enermax Liberty 500 would be ok, but depending on drives and how hard you want to really push your PSU I'd go a little bigger. Video Cards use 12V power supplies (among Hard Drives, CD/DVD Rom's / Burner's and fans...). An Antec True Power Trio 620W would probably be a perfect choice and extremely efficient!! Unless you know for sure that you'll be buying a 2nd Ultra in the near future...
Yes, but by the time you purchase another one it will probably no longer be the fastest card.
$580 to $850 each
x2= $1160 to $1700/ pair WOW!

I hope your power supply is big enough.
