USB/Firewire Hub connected to laptop singular by firewire. Would the USB devices connected to the hub work?

Answer:
They should work, from what I've see all the hubs that can connect to any one will act as a mediator for either one.
Of course, depending on the speed of the firewire port it's connected to they may work pretty much usually or somewhat slower.
(firewire ports vary contained by speed from 100 to 800Mbit/s and USB varies from 1.5 to 480Mbit/s)
