Why does my computer go from 100.0mbps to 10.0 mbps?
Answers:
Network cards negotiate the speed they connect at with the router or network hub they are connected to. If there are too many errors when they communicate they might use a slower speed so that they can communicate more accurately. Usually they don't drop the speed unless they get so many errors that they can actually communicate faster at the slower speed (sounds messed up doesn't it).
Some things that might cause network communication errors:
- A strong wireless (radio) signal close by.
- A motor or compressor like in a refrigerator or air conditioner.
- Low quality, defective, or old cables.
- Heat
- Loose connections.
- Hardware or driver problems with the network card, hub, or router.
- Power quality (surges and dips).
There are others but this list should be a good place to start to try tracking down the problem.
hi, For the reason is it's all about your ISP (Internet Service Provider) they have the administration, the ability to manage bandwith of your connections, unfotunatley 10 mbps is currently good enough if you are a PC home use.. , likely this problem is also encounterd by Wireless users who uses a Canopy .. so try consulting to your administrator..
