USB adaptor?
Answer:
If your computer doesn't have a wireless card you can buy a wireless USB adaptor for about £20 that you can just plug into a USB port. They sell them in loads of places, try Argos.
Hello,
(ANS) Most computers sold now a days come with USB ports built into the machine (either on the front or back of the machine). There are x2 types of USB ports these are:- USB version 1.0 & USB version 2.0 the big difference between the two types is bandwidth USB 1 only allows data transfers of about 12megs whilst USB 2 is about x40 times faster.
**NOTE:- high speed USB devices can still be used in a slower USB 1 port's but obviously wont work as fast as they are capable of.
**Vica Versa too, slower or older USB devices can be plugged into USB 2 port's but wont work as fast as the port is capable of.
**My guess (if I've understood your question correctly) is that what you need is a USB 2 type (compatible) wireless network card or wireless networking dongle. This would allow your machine to communicate with your wireless router.
**It could also be that the computer already has a USB wireless card physically installed but what your missing are the device drivers to make the hardware work with your wireless router? Meaning you need drivers for the RT73 USB card. You need to find out who makes the RT73 card & search for device drivers that match this.
**The other problem is Vista itself, many problems with Vista are down to the lack of device drivers to make hardware work with this newest version of windows. You may find drivers for the above for XP but NOT vista?
**Further more you need device drivers that are digitally signed because both XP & vista require digitally signed drivers. Non signed drivers can & will cause system instability so your machine is more likely to crash as a result.
Hope this helps?
