How do i get a lacie 160gb external hard drive to format into 2 partitions in NTFS mode in win2k?
Answer:
Go to Disk Manager, kill the partition and then reformat into two partitions.
run fdisk, or download partition magic. Which will allow you to create partitions how you please. You will have to format the drive so backup all important things that are currently on there.
You need to partition the drive first - best is Partition Magic - you used to be able to download a trial version that was time limited ( 30 days or some such ).
This will do it for you and if you do a lot of partitioning is worth buying for Windows users.
Otherwise , find a friend running Linux and get them to partition and format it for you with GParted - works great and is free.
when you set it up in windows 2k you can specify partions
In the control panel administration is a disk manager
You can use a commercial product called partition magic
Think that it is now owned by symantec ( now Norton)
Be carefull
i guess fdisk will work with a usb drive
