What is an add on USB Card and are they difficult to install?
Answer:
If you've got a slot available in your PC, this type of card is not very difficult to install at all.
HOWEVER, I have read that these type of "add on cards" don't always work as full USB slots with some devices. Just something to look (or should I say NOT look) forward to.
Good luck.
PCI Cards with USB Slots.
These are Peripheral Component Interconnect, or PCI Standard (in practice almost always shortened to PCI) Cards. PCI specifies a computer bus for attaching peripheral devices to a computer motherboard.
So there are PCI USB Adapter Cards that have USB Slots on the outside( facing towards the back of the PC).
To install these you just need to open up the PC and install the Adapter in an empty PCI Slot. Install the necessary Drivers from the USB Driver CD, when Windows asks for them and you will be in business.
Its the card to hook up for the printer to send stuff from the computer so you can print if online and its not hard its actually easy 5 minutes to be exact.
card that give you more usb ports... not hard to install.
An add-on USB card will add more USB ports to your computer. USB ports are used for connecting peripherals to your computer. They are not very difficult to install, but you need to be careful while doing it (don't touch any circuit boards inside). While your computer is off, you need to open the case, unscrew and remove a PCI slot placeholder (its a long, thin piece of metal located on the back usually near the bottom of the case, the screw is inside the case). Then, take the USB card out of its packaging, press it into the open PCI slot firmly. Replace the screw you removed to secure the card in place, close up the case and you're done. You can boot up your computer.
Then you may need to install drivers from a CD that came with the USB card.
This would be a card to give you extra usb or firewire ports. It would generally fit in a standard PCI slot in your PC.
It is a PCI card with USB ports. There not that hard to install, here's how:
1. Take out the two big screws on the back of your computer (located on right side)
2. Slide the side pannel towards the back and it will pop off.
3. Near the bottom there will be seversl spots for PCI cards.
take off one of the covers, it doesn't matter which one.
4. Install the USB Card by slidding it into the slot.
5. Then scre it in and putt the pannel back on
adding a usb card expands the number of devices that can be connected you can have 127 devices per port but your bandwidth will suffer. The usb card is not hard to install any free pci slot will do load the drivers go to the device manager to see if it installed. I would get a usb hub it easier to install just plug it in any free usb port.
