Having problem with dvd burner disks help!?

I have a new dvd burner in my computer at home. I have dvd programs that all work. The dvd burner works as well. The problem I have is that the blank sony dvd R-s do not work the burner does not recognize them. The burner is a R+/RW+. Do I have to get R+ dvd disks or does it not matter? Very very lost so please help.

Answers:
+r/+rw burner will *only* burn +r or +rw disks.

Your -r disks are somethign it can't recognise at all.

nice to have a single standard for disks isn't it? Means no-one ever buys coasters by mistake. Cos for you that's all the -r DVD disks are ... coasters. Not even very good or pretty coasters at that.
could be the software. try getting nero

It matters get the Blank CD 4.3 gb r/w
you did not mention what make and model dvd burner you have??
You need to get the right kind of DVDs. You need the DVD + R for your Burner to work. I found the Sony Or Memorex are the best to use.
