RAM from one computer doesn't work in the other?

One of my friends gave me his old computer, and I put the RAM from my computer into his, and his computer still says it has the same amount of RAM. Am I doing something wrong? How do I get the RAM from my computer to work in his?

Answers:
the speeds of the ram are most likely diffent and the other pc doesnt support it. sorry
The RAM u installed is not compatible with your computer.
There are lots of different types and speeds and yours and his don't match.

Go here and click Scan my system

Each motherboard is only compatible with one specific type of RAM. Most likely the two computers you have do not take the same type of RAM. If you want more go to crucial.com and run the free system scan. It will tell you what type to get.
