Is it possible to add 1GB of ram to iMac G4?
Answers:
Unfortunately, the only way you'll be able to get 1GB of RAM, which is the most that computer will support, is by bringing it to an Apple authorized service provider.
Your iMac has 2 RAM slots, one is accessible to the user, the other is not. Since you have 256MB, your accessible RAM slot should be open. If you flip your computer up side down and remove the metal plate from the bottom of the iMac you will see 2 slots, one for the Airport card and the other for the RAM.
Unless you bring your iMac to a service provider (to open the computer up to get a 512MB in the non user accessible slot), the max you'll be able to put in the accessible RAM slot is 512MB to max out at 768MB.
PS: I would not recommend running CS3 on a G4, it will be slower than molasses even with 1GB of RAM.
you would have to read the manual; see if it has a diagram of the pc with an 'expander' spot [an empty space] for this
also you might want to talk to an upgrade center that does this (example best buy)
Yes you can. My iBook G4 which is about 4 years old has 1 gig of RAM. The best bet is to ask Apple. You can also go to their website and look at the RAM section for iMacs G4. You will need to buy 2 512MB dimms.
it will be better to add two 512MB RAM on your computer. There will be two slot avaliable in the mother board..
