Is it possible to insert a video card that is 8X to a 4X AGP port?

I buy new video card that is 8X, is it compatible to run with a AGP 4X port.

Answers:
Yes it will run just fine, all 8x AGP cards are backwards compatible with 4x slots.
I believe so, but it will only run at 4X speeds.
only if your agp port on mb has no plastic holders in the middle. Some agp port are set only for 4X or 8X and if you try to put another kind of agp in ther it will not enter.
YES, mysticman is right.

The fast high end cards like 7900GS AGP, X1950 Pro AGP or 7950GT AGP would, however be bottlenecked/slowed down by that 4x AGP port. ATI 9600 Pro or Geforce 7300GT AGP should work out fine and may not require a power supply upgrade.
