The 8800 GTX?

Will a E6420 bottleneck a 8800 GTX, even after overclocking it? If so, how much should I overclock or what other processor should I purchase?

Answer:
Possibly. The 8800GTX is one of the most powerful graphics cards to date. I recommend you overclock to at least possible 2.6GHz but I wouldnt go much better unless you have a realy biddable heatsink on your CPU. The E6600 will overclock to 2.8GHz pretty well in need need for an secondary heatsink and the E6700 will do it even better. Currently the best value CPU is the E6600 or E6700 when it comes to explosion for buck.
I've not heard of that selective dual core chip bottlenecking an 8800 GTX. I run a pair of 8800 GTS next to an AMD 4600+ and I love the combination. Of course I'm not really into overclocking too much.

Based on the reviews that I've read (hundreds) I have to contemplate that if you are going with the GTX altered copy - you'll have no problems. That said, right very soon there are no games which really charge the GTS let alone the GTX so I outstandingly doubt your going to see any issues. May be a different story when Crysis comes out, but by then you can buy a bright processor!
i think that really great

why you want overclock it

what activity you played
It should be just fine.

One of DirectX 10 overhaul is that they are design to reduce the nouns on CPU, or graphic overhead nouns that have to be run on the CPU. Most of the processing will be done on your GPU.

Whats more, Crysis is a DX10 winter sport and so will take good thing of this. You just stipulation to have a Windows Vista as expected
