Go to Superantispyware and take the free download, that will help some, but you really need to go into your control panel and click on scheduled tasks.
From there, schedule a maintainence of defragging and compressing of file to clean and speed up your system.
Also, you need to set a restore location once your computer is running the way you like so you canrestore it if hit by performance problems.
Try a system restore to about a month ago.
Start-Programs-Accessories-Sys... restore
This should do the trick unless it is a hardware issue.
Lastly, did you install any new software, such as Norton recently? If so...there is your weight.
What kind of programs have you been running in the background and what were you doing before the freeze? Computer doesn't just freeze without no reason.
This sounds like you might have a virus, I'd try running some virus software. However, before I tryed this, run a defrag, and
a disk cleanup. You can find both of this by going through Programs\Accessories\ and System Tools.
You might even try a System Restore and restore it to a week before all of this.
