Why won't my CD/DVD player work?

All of a sudden, the CD/DVD player on my computer won't work. It is a Combi RW 16x10 DVD. I was able to get it open using the pinhole trick, but it is just NOT responding! The DLA is enabled... it just seems to be STUCK! Any ideas what is going on? I'll probably take it to a local computer shop on Thursday, but in the meantime, I am curious.

Answer:
Check your cables.

Also, go into Device Manager and make sure it is still enabled and the drivers are up to date.

If this is all good, I woud just buy another drive. They are inexpensive and easy to install.
just check your cable connections on the inside. Make sure they are pressed in..
Open the door and blow it out with some canned air.
