Why should i avoid integrated graphics and what's the solution for this?

Answers:
because integrated graphics are weak compared to a dedicated graphics card plus integrated graphics use up system memory so in reality u have less ram than the specs say coz the graphics are eating into it ...
do u want to play games? forget it! it usually also uses some of ur ram.thats also why i dont recommend...

solution: buy a nice graphics card...lots around, depends on what u want of course
Integrated graphics suck.

You will not be able to play any video games on it and you might experience slowdown on certain graphical features (like transparent windows, etc).

The solution for this is to buy a computer that has a dedicated video card (ranging from 100 to 500 dollars)... either utilizing the AGP or PCI e slot. If you already have a computer without one, you can buy one IF the motherboard has a slot for it. Then its just a matter of opening your computer up, sticking in the video card, and installing drivers off a CD or the internet.

I would suggest PCIe though since AGP is becoming a thing of the past.
There are a whole bunch of technical reasons that are tedious, but all you need to know is that integrated graphics can never be as powerful as a dedicated graphics board (reasons include space, heat dissipation and cost).

To avoid this:

If you are buying a pre-built computer, make sure it has a separate graphics card

If you are building your own, make sure you buy a motherboard with a suitable graphics slot. Most popular today is PCI-Express (PCI-E). And buy a graphics card that fits that slot. About £25 will get you a basic one, £50 will play most games and £100+ will give you sweet performance on all the latest graphic-intensive stuff.
now a days integrated graphics can be very good so unless you are a big gamer, integrated graphics is not a bad idea. if you didnt want that tho you would need to buy a seperate video card and plug it into a pci or pci-express slot in your computer depending on which ones you have
integrated gfx cards are only up to like 64mb of memory? i dont recall seeing any higher.

Dedicated graphic cards are much much much much more powerful than integrated gfx cards, simply because, integrated gfx cards are there to provide basic VGA support, to support colours and videos, etc.

dedicated graphic cards also have much higher memory and core clock giving them better processing power than an integrated card.

Besides, nowadays more and more gfx cards are being released for PCI-express slots, these are much faster than the old AGP slots gfx cards, giving them the extra edge in loading times.
If you want a cheap computer buy one with onboard graphics. If you want a nice computer buy one with a video card!
I just put a video card in for a customer with a brand new puter(he didn't buy it from me) with Vista because he couldn't run Halo 2 with his crappy onboard video. If you just use it for business, surf the net , chat online or do emails onboard is fine. Don't expect to run any high-end games with it thou.
intergrated graphics have come a long way since the days of the 4mb onboard graphics chip
although i use a geforce 7600gt myself, some of the intergrated graphics avalible are quite good, for example the radeon xpress 1250 is equivelent to a geforce fx5500 dedicated graphics card
and the geforce 6150 intergrated graphics has the same specs as the 6200 including direct x 9.0c and pixel and shader model 3.0,these are pretty impressive for a intergrated graphics chip, however the negative side is the onboard chips have slow clock speeds meaning the frame rates will be passable but wont break any records
for a good dedicated graphics card stick with nvidia and choose between either the 7 or 8 series of cards these include GeForce 7100 series GeForce 7100 GS GeForce 7200 Series GeForce 7200 GS GeForce 7300 series GeForce 7300 SE GeForce 7300 LE GeForce 7300 GS GeForce 7300 GT GeForce 7600 Series GeForce 7600 GS GeForce 7600 GT GeForce 7800 Series GeForce 7800 GT GeForce 7800 GS AGP GeForce 7800 GTX GeForce 7900 Series GeForce 7900 GS GeForce 7900 GT GeForce 7950 GT GeForce 7900 GTO GeForce 7900 GTX
GeForce 7900 GX2
GeForce 7950 GX2
and the 8 series cards include the
8500 gs
8500gt
8600gs
8600gt
8800gts
8800gtx
8800gtx ultra
personally i would go for the 8699gt in the 8 series and the 7900gtx in the 7 series
hope this helps
good luck mate!
What do you want do do?

Play games? Then you need a decent graphics card, otherwise you may as well stick with the built in.

Most modern on-board graphics allow up to 256MB of system ram to be used by the graphics adapter. The problem with that is it reduces the amount of ram available to the computer as a whole. This will result is slower operation.

You can buy a high end graphics card from £80 (ATI x1950Pro 256), which will blow any built-in graphics totally away.
