Better for gaming a router or ethernet swtch?

There is one special gaming router from D-link for gamers so maybe that's what you're after. A switch is just a device connecting all your pc's together in a network but does not allow access to the internet on it's own. You have to use ICS software but that's usually unstable and unreliable.
The ethernet switch. It does no calculations, just switches and is therefore faster.
I would say router if an internet connection is wanted. The router so that you can connect to an internet and at the same time share the connection too with your neighbor. Also with a router you don't have to turn your computer on so that your neighbor can connect to the internet since the router will serve as a server. But all this is irelevant if you don't want an internet connection. If that's the case then an ethernet switch would do fine.
