I have a Dell 2400pc, how do I know if any of the drivers need updating.?
Answer:
If the components of your Dell are working well, then there is no need to update any components. You know the old saying, if it is not broke, don't fix it. Dell is very slow when it comes to writing newer drivers for the components and posting them on their web site. That is the first place I would check, however.
The primary components that may require updates would be your video card (or video chipset if integrated) and sound card. The best method would be to try the manufacturers website for drivers. You can check the date of the driver by going inito Control Panel. system, hardware, and then device manager. click on the component you want to update a driver for, then click on properties. A date for the driver will be given. Then go to dell or the manufacturer of the compnents website, check their driver section, and see if a driver has been posted that has a later date. IF so, download and install. Again, don't bother unless you are experiencing problems or software incompatibility, as new drivers may CAUSE instability with certain programs.
