Why is Battlefield 2 lagging and pauses too much on my gaming computer?

my battlefield 2 always lagging and pauses so much and it annoys me so much. I turned up into maximum or default setting (everything are high) and it still lagging and pauses many times during the game. I'll show you my custom gaming computer's spec.

A8N-SLI Deluxe

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0Ghz (Overclocked 2.2Ghz)

2 Evga Nvidia Geforce 6800 GS on Sli

Consair XMS 1GB DDR 400MHZ (PC 3200) Dual Channel (overclocked 440 MHZ)

2 160GB Maxtor DiamondMax Hard Drives 7200 rpm
*First one used for Window XP local disk and second one used for swapdisk* I'd defragmented both hard drives by using PerfectDisk 8.0

BFG 650 watts power supply (supported Sli and Dual PCI-Express)

Any ideas? I need to make my battlefield 2 smoother and want to make best quality image! Any upgrades? You can tell me what kind of problem! I still using latest driver Nvidia Forceware 160.02 from TweaksRus.com

Well judging by your configuration, the CPU maybe be bottlenecking your SLI set-up. That as well as the memory being only 400Mhz. Memory these days are twice that speed. If you are talking about internet lag however Battlefield 2 is notorious for server lag, mostly due to EA games rushing of the development.
