Can i play PC games using an external CD Rom Drive?

You need a DVD rom to play DVD rom games.
A DVD drive. Most games now a days come in DVD cause they are huge and its cheaper to make one DVD then a bunch of CDs
If you are going to install the game on the PC and then playing it then it's ok but if you are going to play that directly from the CD the you'll experience the PC hanging sometimes. you don't want it that way. do you?
CD/DVD cause it can run new(almost always DVDs now a days) and old games most games only use the drive to check if you have a copy so you won't share it and run from the hard drive It is very rare that the disc is actually used while playing a game it is only usually used to store the game's cut scenes so I doubt external will hinder performance.
