Whar are the chances of getting a Compaq cd burner to work in my custum built pc. I'm makin' a Frankenstien!

ok let me make it clearer. the burner in my putor i use now is possed by the devil & i'm too cheap to buy a new one! soooooooo i wanna yank this one outta my old pc that works fine (the burner) will i need a new driver or can a use a windows generic driver ?

Answer:
Most cd burners will work with the generic drivers that come with windows. Just hook it up and see. Before you do get the model number off the back of it and if you do need drivers compaq or whoever made the drive should have them on their website.
you'll need specific drivers because it is a burner.

good luck.
hi

if your using XP, your driver will probably download autimatically through windows update

or go on the compaq website :)
