The roller on my mouse will not scroll. why?

You involve to update the driver on it. Look at the bottom of the mouse, for a model number. (Mine, for example, is an IBM MO28UO.) then google, for example, "IBM MO28UO mouse drivers." Also if it is investigational like you said, it may own come with a disk. If so pop contained by the disk and hopefully it will automatically prompt you to install the driver. If it does not, go to your control panel, consequently go to system, later go to device representative. Find human interfaces in the record, and click it. In that subcategory find the one that says mouse and double click it. When properties comes up click on the "drivers" tab. Then click on UPDATE DRIVER. Then when it asks if you want to select a location for your drivers, select the compact disc drive where your disk is located and click ok.

If it came near a cd and you haven't loaded into your computer you may want to try that first.
You need to install the driver that come with your mouse. (If your mouse come with a compact disc.) If it didn't you can download them from the manufacturer's website.
The mouse's ball is dirty. I'm not human being nasty but the mouse globe contacts 2 rollers. After a period the rollers go and get clogged up with crud. Take out the orb and clean the rollers.
If you simply bought a new one, you should return it and exchange for a brand new one. Bring your receipt for the exchange. If it still won't scroll, next you prolly need to install the drivers for the mouse. If it doesn't come along near any drivers, download them from the Net.
Check the rollers underneath the mouse ball. Make sure the rollers are verbs and nothing is sticking to it.
Well those types of mouse things, or "mice". eventually win dirty on the roller thing, or the bubble... so you need to oppen up the mouse and verbs the ball and the inside nouns.
Go into your control panel and then double click on the mouse deity and make sure the mouse gearstick is on. You should also be able to customize your mouse contained by this section.
