How do u get the front microphone jack on your computer tower to work?

it has a place in the front beside the headphones but you have to plug it into the back one how do u get the front jack to work

I click on Realteck HD Manager on the bottom toolbar & a screen comes up that lets me assign functions to all my input jacks. But thats just me
1. check to make sure you have all proper sound card drivers installed.

2. check to makesure your fron jack is connected to to your mother board.
Go to your sound recorder program in windows accessories and make sure the Mic is not muted. If it has a check in the muted box remove it
