Does a external hard drive work similiar to a flash dirve?

My comp has about 300 mbs left on it and I need more space for my music. Have done a disk clean up numerous times. Would a external hard drive good? and would i be able to transfer it to my laptop also?

Answers:
It does work very similarly to a flash drive in terms of the portability. You'll want to be a little more careful powering it up and down and moving it while it's running (or rather, don't!), but it's a great way to dump out your non-essential files and free up space on the main HDD. For the most part, it will transfer to any machine that can use a flash drive. That's a fairly good test, since you mentioned it.
Yes. Like a mem stick but about 300 times bigger
If all you need to do is store files such as music then yes an external hard drive will work for you. There are many that you can hook up via USB just like most flash drives.
yes you can , i own 3 of them 200Gs each and I transfer files from any of my comps even full length movies
