Answer:
Please write out the error it says your computer, I'll edit my answer if I know how to fix it.

Try this: Go to Start > Run > Type in "Services.msc," (A Services window will show up) > Scroll down to "Windows Audio" The status should display "Started." If not, then there's your problem, right click "Windows Audio" then click "Start." It should be working.
make the details understandable then wait for answer.
1) Are your speakers on ?
2) Is the volume up ?
3) Do your speakers work ?
4) Do you have the speakers connected into the right jack (you may have it plugged into the line in or microphone jack)?
5) You may have the sound on mute. check to make sure that the sound is not on mute (both OS and any software you use to control the sound)
6) Check ALL sound channels (master, wave, CD etc...) are not on mute
7) Make sure there are no coflicts with the device in Device Manager.

Additional Questions: (to better determine your issue)

8) Did your speakers or sound ever work?
9) Is this a new system?
10) Is this a laptop or desktop?
11) Have you added any new software or hardware recently (assuming the sound worked previously) ?
I just fixed a friend's computer with the sound problems yesterday. When I went to Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and checked the sound driver, it had a yellow question mark on it meaning that it wasn't being recognized by the computer. Is this how it shows on yours?

For me to give better info, I would need to know more information about your computer.

The computer I fixed yesterday didn't appear to have a registered version of windows, so the automatic updates were not working because of this. And apparently the auto detection on the add hardware wizard wasn't working either. Without being able to use the auto detection on the add hardware wizard, I had to manually download and install the drivers myself. Does your computer have the same problem?

Before you can get the right driver, you need to know what type of computer that you have.

For HP computers, just go to the HP Support Page (http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/supp... and type in what type of computer you have (like Pavilion 7955, for example) and the drivers for the audio and other things will show up.

For DELL computers, the DELL Support Page is at: http://support.dell.com/

For GATEWAY computers, the GATEWAY Support Page is at: http://support.gateway.com/support/drive...

When you download the driver, try to select an option for installing the software immediately, if it is available. And when the driver is installed and the computer restarts, you should hear sound right away.
