Can you run games on an external hard-drive on a different computer?

i know that you are able to run games from an external hard-drive on a different computer but i need to know how. Do you need to use a NO-CD crack?

Answers:
No, you just insert the play dic into the CD/DVD Player and select the game from the external hard drive. It is that easy.
You can run if the drive letter is not getting changed
Use any one of the following softwares on the local or a remote PC to create a replica of your CD/DVD ROM as an assigned local or a network drive. It will run without any software cracks.

Paragon CD ROM Emulator
CD Space
Alcahol 120%
Virtual CD ROM
Virtual Drive
