I heard soy may affect memory but also read it omproves memory, which is correct?

Answers:
I'm eating a lot of soy nuts to help get my cholesterol down and it doesn't seem to be helping my memory but there are too many other factors in life to really judge by my experience.

On a completely unrelated note, I see you too don't like the "official" rules the grammar "experts" use to decide when to use affect or effect, now if we can just get everyone else to spell with us we can get those confusing rules simplified once and for all.
"affect" can mean in a good way or bad, so that makes sense.
If you poor soy milk on your motherboard it will most likely short out the board and your memory, RAM that is.
