MIDI Computer Connections?
I don't have a MIDI keyboard or any external MIDI controllers, but if I do end up buying something like that and it has MIDI outputs (and maybe inputs), how do I connect it to my computer to control stuff?
I have a fairly new computer and I have FL Studio 6 (Demo), which seems to have many easy to use functions involving an external MIDI keyboard.
How do I connect devices to my computer?

Further explaining bassclef..'s statements:
"1) sound card game port midi adapter (15 pin game port to midi cable) $15 on ebay" enables connection of the larger MIDI/Game port connector to the smaller 5-pin DIN midi connector found on some* sound cards.
"2) usb\firewire to midi cable $50 on ebay" a cable to connect your (soon-to-be) MIDI controller to the sound card.
"3) midi sound card (high end sound cards for audio editing)" means you need to have a hardware interface in your PC to receive the MIDI, this has to be installed and supported by the software of your choice.
"4) usb\firewire audio interface with midi built in ( m-audio, boss, roland, e-mu, ya..." and software to handle the data, and be able to convert it into a record (digital).
hi:
1) sound card game port midi adapter (15 pin game port to midi cable) $15 on ebay
2) usb\firewire to midi cable $50 on ebay
3) midi sound card (high end sound cards for audio editing)
4) usb\firewire audio interface with midi built in ( m-audio, boss, roland, e-mu, yamaha, motu, creative labs, digidesign etc.)
you need an interface-that has both midi in and midi out (all of them do). that's it.
i use flstudio-producer version. you really don't need a controler for that. i mean some will tell you you do..but its far from neccesary-everything can be written in-and all knobs can be tweaked by drawing in or automation.
i have a lot of keyboards but i don't use their midi functions at all for flstudio.
but once you have it all set up you can use one of the (Dashboard) midi controlers they have to assign all the functions
