Backup songs on itunes on hard drive?

I have all my itunes music on my external hard drive, and my external hard drive has been messing up a lot lately..so I'm getting scared that I might lose 3000 songs because my external is the only place I have my songs saved..I want to backup ALL of my songs onto my hard drive...how can I do this??

"Be a man...do the right thing." Double check everything make sure that the transition will go smoothly. If your computer has a history of crashing and stuff I'd consider cleaning up, scanning for viruses and stuff. =P
Can't do it through Itunes. Open my computer, open your external hard drive, and start a new search (ctrl+f)
Choose "Find pictures, Music, Or Video" and check the "music" box. Put an asterisk (*) into the box, and search.

This will find all the music files on your external hard drive. select them all (or all you want to copy) and either COPY (to back up) or CUT (to transfer) them (right click)

I'm on a mac, and all I have to do is drag the iTunes folder (this includes all your setting, libraries, and most importantly songs) and drop it where necessary (usually the music folder). I have all my stuff on my hard drive and have backed up onto my external one. If you're on windows, it should be similar if not the same.
