I want to upgrade my AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 939pin help?
Thanks.
Answer:
Here are your options (provided motherboard BIOS supports them):
Athlon 64 X2 4600 (Manchester) 2.4Ghz
Athlon 64 X2 4800 (Toledo) 2.4Ghz
Athlon 64 FX 57 (San Diego) 2.8Ghz
Athlon 64 FX 62 (Toledo) 2.8Ghz, dual core
There is negligible performance gain on the X2s if you will run single threaded apps. Their advantage is mainly on multithreaded apps. The FX would help improve gaming performance but personally, for gaming, I would rather spend the money on a 8800 GTS or a GTX than on a FX 57 or 62. I would also put a Thermalright Ultra 90 HSF on that 3800+ and overclock it to 2.6 to 2.8Ghz.
