Which is better? Pentium 4 or AMD Sempron?

Im planning on buying a recordable DVD drive cause my computer cant burn DVDs, and the requirements of like all the drives requires a Pentium 4 processor 1.3 GHz or higher. I have a AMD Sempron 1.8 GHz processor, will my computer support the drive?
Thats also the same with a lot of things i want to buy, it says that it requires a Pentium 4 processor or higher, so is my Sempron better?

Answer:
P4 is better
Pentium 4 is better when compared to a Sempron

AMD's Sempron processor is equivalent to Intel's Celeron Processor - they are both low end "budget' CPU's. If all you do is browse and word process, they are just fine.

AMD's "Athlon" processor is the competitor to the Pentium, while there are differences between them, to the average user, they are the same thing.
P4 is a more powerful chip than a Sempron. Sempron is like AMD's answer to Pentium's Celeron line of chips.

However I don't see why your Sempron computer couldn't run drive. Should be fine.
Everyone above is wrong. Ignore them. They are clueless.

A Palmero 1.8GHz Sempron would wipe even an Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2GHz all over the floor and not even give it a chance to get up before battering it down again.

Take, for example, the PC Mark 2005 CPU scores for a Palmero 1.8 GHz Sempron (2593) vs the Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz (2354). Higher is better, by the way ;-)

Using the CloneDVD benchmark, the Sempron comes in at a nice 13 mins 4 secons, with the Pentium 4 dragging its heels at a whopping 18 mins 9 seconds.

So yes, your Sempron is better than the requirements and will work just fine with your DVD burner. Fear not :)
The Sempron will support the DVD drive fine. No need to worry.
I third that motion - The AMD proc is up to spec for your external DVD device, and this processor performs really great for it's price bracket, and even above.

So Yes, you will be fine with your hardware specs to run the device.
Yes it can work, any low end processor can burn dvds easily with no problems.Might be a bit slow but if it works stick with it.
