Hello. Problem with USB DRIVE.?
Answer:
You have to close any programs that used the drive and close any windows that show the contents of the drive before it can be safely removed.
The other option to safely remove it is to shutdown the computer and remove it when the computer is off.
Well I remember doing this with a science project for school. Because it was late I forgot to unmount it first and unfortunately not everything was written to it. The only thing I ended up with was a broken pps file from which I could only recover the first 3 slides and a broken USB flash which never worked before.
I don't mean to sound desperate, but it's a huge risc you're taking when removing any external device connected to your computer without unmounting it first. If the system doesn't get to complete its task before removing anything can happen.
Now to solve this issue, first check if there's any process that is using it, besides svchost. (press ctrl-alt-del and see what processes are running).
If you can't find any then this means svchost remembered it had to finish something with this device and it stops the user from unmounting it until it finishes what it started. To solve this, take evrything you had on the flash drive and format it. Next time be more careful!
