How do I obtain my computer to see my latest thumb drive?

I"m running Win98, it does not detect the USB thumb drive I merely bought. I also tried it on an XP system which detected it automatically.

How do I make my computer see it?? I tried downloading drivers from Sony but that still did not work.

Answer:
98 and usb connections are a nightmare greatly of the time. you say you downloaded driver(s) does that propose you didn't find the correct one for your drive? if it was current then you usually carry a disk with it for 98
does your usb thumb drive's collection says that it is windows98 compatible? or is it for window xp only?

own you tried opening your Device Manager? click on Hardware and see if there's a examine mark on your USB ports - if it have, chances are your usb thumb drive is plugged surrounded by and your pc recognize it but windows desires an updated driver for it.
Go here:http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/... and see if you can find it.
If you downloaded the drivers make sure you point give and remove hardware to where youve placed the drivers. when it see this driver it should go through its average proccesses and you should be in business.

if this doesnt work you may inevitability to update to 98se or higher to obtain the drive to function.

windows xp's nice to upgrade to and you'll know how to mess with adjectives the new toys and not have need of to search incessantly for external drives that have plug and play arranged.

hope this helps ;)
