Will my graphics card/PC be able to play XP/Vista games?
OS: Vista Premium
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs) ~ 3.0GHz
Memory: 1014MB RAM
Direct X Version: 10
Graphics Card: Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family (256MB)
Thanks for your answers. :-)

Intel 945 is an "integrated" video subsystem that borrows memory from the PC instead of having its own. (Yes, it's sorta a parasite) It is so low-end, it has LESS power than some video cards from SIX YEARS AGO.
I'm sure you can play some casual games, but don't expect to play the top end games like Supreme Commander, Shadown Run, Halo 2, and so on.
sorry, it'snot a gamer.
the 945g supports pci-express.
depending on your motherboard, you may be able to upgrade to a decent card.
no it will not. it is intergrated graphics, which is not even a graphics card, its a chip on the mobo. how did u get dx10 ? i dont think that card is even dx9 supported. get a dedicated graphics card if u intend on playing games.
the onboard graphics will hold you back on alot of games. consider upgrading to a dx10 compatable card such as the newer ati (2400/2600/2900) or newer nvidia (8600/8800)
YES, BECAUSE INTEL NOW USING 256 MB BUILT IN 3D ACCELERATER GRAPHIC SYSTEM. YOU CAN RUN 3D GAMES EASILY ON YOUR SYSTEM.
GOOD BYE
no because its integrated graphics so you WILL NOT be able to play direct x 10 games period
you will be able to play some direct x 9 games but don't expect anything above medium settings
It CAN play them, but not with high graphics settings. An Intel graphics chip is an integrated graphics solution, it is the default, base line graphics for everyday tasks. You may have DirectX 10 installed on your comp, but Intel chips CAN NOT process DirectX10, only the new Nvidia series 8 and ATI series 2xxx can do that. I suggest getting a card from one of the above manufacturers. Even an Nvidia series 7, which are pretty cheap now, can play games at high graphics settings. Personally I suggest getting an Geforce 8400. They can process DirectX 10 and are around 100-150$.
I don't think you have anything to worry about DirectX 10 games won't be coming out at least for another year. Since PS3 and Xbox 360 came out, that is where most game developers look to for amazing graphics.
i never understand manufacturers, they ship p.c systems with dual core processors,1gb memory and a brand new os(vista),then they ruin it all by using a intergrated wish wash called the so called"intel graphics media accelerator",what a load of rubbish, and whats even more annoying is it would only cost them(at trade price)around £20 or less to put a geforce 7600gs in the spare pci-express slot on the motherboard
anyway the answer to your question is "no",games especially like oblivion require a graphic card with better specs than the intel chipset have
what you need to be looking for when purchasing a new graphic card is
1)pixel and shader model...then latest is model 4.0,however anything from model 2.0 is ok but try to go for pixel/shader 3.0 or 4.0
2)pixel pipelines...the more the better the card, pixel pipelines are rendering units that create the effects you see in the latest games, the more pipelines the greater the effects the card can produce...note:in the next generation cards like the geforce 8800gtx and radeon x2900xt pixel pipelines are replaced with "stream processers",these are single rendering units that can do basically anything(vertex,pixel,mip-map,... a 1000 other rendering effects, again the more the better
core clock:the higher the better,it measured in megahertz, for example the geforce 7600gt has a clock speed of 562mhz
memory clock:as with all the higher the better, this is the speed the memory works at,not the size of it
video memory:like system ram this is the short term memory for your graphic card,go for 512mb if possible but 256 is ok
best cards around at the moment are the nvidia geforce 8800gtx(http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productin... the radeon hd2900xt(http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productin...
i hope this helps
good luck mate!
