Hooking up an external usb not easy drive to xp service pack 2?
Answers:
I have this problem. First off the external USB drive be given a drive letter of D:, which be already given to my CD rom. I found this out by Right Clicking on My Computer, Manage, and choosing Disk Management. I consequently found my Maxtor Drive (I found it cuz it was a 300 gigs and my internal one be only 100) and right clicked on that, and hit Change Drive Letter and Path, I hit the Change button and give it Drive letter M: (for maxtor). I hit ok, and sure plenty my pc found the "new" drive. Also, kind sure the drive IS good, plug it surrounded by to another pc, to clear sure it comes up there, you may enjoy a dud.
XP SP2 should have no problems beside USB devices such as this... Check you BIOS settings and ensure USB is enabled and if you have shared memory, increase the amount to receive USB2 to work. Too little shared memory has an effect on guaranteed machines.
You also want to test it within OTHER usb ports on your PC or on another PC. Also check the USB cable or try a different one...
