Need some clarification here! (My computers total memory? )?
Ok, my fiance installed a game, Fable, the lost Chapters, it shows in my add & remove programs that it is over 2000 mb, how is that possible? it says my computer has only 448 mb?
How do I find out the exact memory my computer has?
Serious answers only.
Thank you

448 mb refers to the ram not disk space and so you are geting correct info but to find how much disk space you have double click my computer then click the hard drive and it should tell you
hahah no ure getting hard drive space and RAM confused. That 448MB is how much RAM the computer has. RAM is a buffer between you and the processor, which means it when u click on something it goes to the RAM to stay there until the processor is free. That 2000MB things is how much HARD DRIVE space its taking up. You can find out how much hard drive space you have by going to my computer, right click "C" drive, then ull see the Space remaining and total space
Open My computer Rt click on the drive (most likely C) click on Propeties and it will give you a chart.
You are talking apples and oranges. The memory you are referring to in the specs is RAM. Short term memory your computer uses to store information as programs run. Once you turn off the machine, it goes away. When you load a program from CD it gets stored on your hard drive. The hard drive is a magnetic disk that stores massive amounts of data. The important thing here is that the information doesn't go away when you shut the power off. A quick way to see how big your hard drive is to go to start bar, my computer. Find the hard drive icon (C:) and right click it and select properties.
When you run a program, it reads information from the hard drive into RAM and executes the instructions sending things back and forth to the hard drive as it needs to.
448mb is the size of your ram.2000mb is for the game and tells you how much space it used to install the game on your hard drive.just open up my computer and right click on one of your hard drives and go to properties to find out how much space you have.
Download Belarc Advisor it's free and all will be revealed.
448MB is your RAM. When you install a game, the game is installed on your HARD DRIVE not your RAM.
You have 512MB installed RAM (Random Access Memory) and you are using onboard VGA (graphics) which is sharing 64MB of your installed RAM
It's often confusing that RAM and hard drive space are both referred to in MB (MegaBytes) or GB (GigaBytes).
From what you've said, it sounds as though you have 512MB of RAM (that's working memory where programs are stored when the computer is on and running). 448MB is such an odd amount but if I add 64MB (as would happen if part of the RAM was being used for the video/graphics output) then 448+64 = 512.
As for the 2000MB, that's 2GB and refers to the hard drive space it occupies. The hard drive is where your programs reside when the computer is switched off.
Go to system information and it will tell you exately what memory you have and what graphics you have too .
