After emptying my data,how to format and partition my hard disk?

plz explain elaborately,I being a newbie

I'm assuming windows. essentially what you're going to do is put your windows cd in and restart the computer. it should ask you to hit a button to boot from cd, if not hit f12 or f8 and select boot from cd, it will then ask you if you want to repair your installation or format it. select the partition you want to format (if you only have one I believe you choose the FAT32) and it will format. then it will ask you to create a partition and how many, choose how big you want each partition and then it will bring you to the installation menu for windows, after that you just follow the directions
