One big computer sound problem?

I must have deleted the sound off my computer because my computer no longer plays sound, and in the sound it says no audio device, also I keep getting sound related error messages. It’s driving me nuts. I have tried everything like downloading new audio devices, and what not. I'm a complete fool when it comes to computer and the hardware. I must not be downloading the devices in my computer right or something. I just don't understand the process. So I need some emergence assistance with my computer. And I can't afford to pay any body either. So that doesn't help the situation much. Someone please help, I can’t stand not having sound on my computer anymore.

Answers:
use system restore and restore it to a point
the days before u deleted the sound. Or u can
go to add/remove programs in control panel
and do something.
I had that same problem. I threw the freakin thing out the window and bought a MAC.
turn speakers on or they are muted
Is it on-board or a sound card?

either way, try a new card and see what happens, they're cheap enough.
go to www.freedownloads .com and download sound blaster
if it's just a drive you should visit either your computer or speaker company website and look for it, or if u know the name google it. once i deleted somethin that wasnt a driver but it got rid of my sound none the less, i had to wipe my hard drive :(
Trying reinstalling your sound driver

Here a download link to you sound driver:
"tp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/s...
If you haven't messed with the hardware (opened the computer up and screwed with it), you might be able to use the system restore CD that came with the machine to put it back to the way it was when it was new.

Make sure to copy any data you want to save off the computer before doing this or it will be wiped out.

Also make sure you have install CD's for any other software you want to put back on the machine afterward.
Goto Device Manager (Start>Run>compmgmt.msc). Search for ur audio card there. If there is a problem with it, u will see a yellow "!" next to it. Just double-click on it, press Reinstall Drivers, insert the driver CD (usually ur motherboard cd), reboot, everything should be fine now.
Even if this didn't work, get Service Pack 2 for your XP and then try again.
To fix go to
Start - control panel - system - hardware - device manager
look for ! or X if you see them delete them you computer will then reinstall the drivers
