I wouldn't recomment those gaming rig vendors from the magazines, such as cyberpower or ibuypower. Even though their prices sound really good, I've heard nothing but bad review about them. And I wouldn't want a vendor to ship the computer where there are chances of UPS or FedEx mishandling them and damaging components.
I highly recommend getting components from sites such as Newegg and building your own. It's safer for the components being shipped individually and in original package, and it's cheaper for you. You can save at least a few hundred dollars building your own.
Oh, you also might want to run Window XP instead of Vista when gaming. Vista consumes alot of the computers RAM which is vital for gaming speed.
Research, learn how computer components work, learn how to build them (it's easy, a caveman can do it), figure out what components to buy...and enjoy. You won't regret it!
I was in your shoes long ago...and I'm glad I didn't by from Cyberpower and built my own instead.
i reccomend reading pc gaming monthly, it has ads in there
for gaming computers for a decent price
There are many computers on ebay, it depends on how much you're willing to pay.
I've bought mine on ebay for $1,300 about 6 months ago
E6600, 4GB RAM, GeForce 7900 GT, 320 GB
It was a great deal. You just need to look for it
Also go to tigerdirect.com, they've got some good gaming comps
Just hit up a website like newegg.com, and just build yourself one, probably going to be the cheapest you'll find unless you have a place like Fry's Electronics near you and you can pace yourself, and get the deals on the rebates everyweekend and assemble one out of all that. That's what i would do, i built my friend a machine for about 500, that will run any game on full with no lag no problems. What i did on mine as well. CS-S is pretty much a joke on that thing.
trust me that a 350 dollar notebook will not run video games well, especially with a vista operating system. With Vista, Your graphics and RAM needs to be up to the task to help run the operating system and video games. But thats niether here nor there, At the lowest, I figure at least $1000.00. Check Best Buy, Office Max and make sure you talk to a real IT person that wirks there, not a person who says they are computer people because they have one. Newegg is a good place but custom built machines cost more. Check your local ads.
