What the software that need to be added when you build new xp/vista machine?
what are the latest games that go on to a machine with this spec:

that would all depend really on what you wish to use the machine for?
but i would sugest at least antivius, AVG has a good name and is free, firewall, zonealarm there also a free version available, antispy - adaware/spybot or something simular, open office for your letters, spreadsheets, data bases and so
past those its really down to what do you want on there? or need?
i recommend you to upgrade to a higher power PSU. 350w is good but not for the specs you got. also don't forget to install all of the drivers. and run a updates.

i have to agree with the other answer,the hiper 350watt p.s.u is a bit on the small side,upgrade this to a 550watt p.s.u and you will have a very good system
i say this as you have some very good components in your p.c however all these require powerincluding your graphics card and a 350watt p.s.u is just on the borderline for the amount of power your p.c requires
as for software,avast4.7 is a excellent free anti-virus software(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht... ahve used this for around 2 years now,solid and reliable
for spyware defense,try spybot(http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl... good anti-spyware program with a good clean up record
other software you may need are win-zip(http://www.winzip.com/index.htm),apple... quicktime (http://www.apple.com/uk/quicktime/win.ht... and real player(http://uk.real.com/player/)
also through real player you can get real arcade(http://www.realarcade.com/),a selection of free games
you will find more software as you go along,depending on your interests and computer specs

OpenOffice 2 (2.3 is currently alpha testing),
AVG Antivirus.
VLC Player (plays most video files plus DVD's from any region, even if the drive is region-locked.)
Azeurus BT client.
Java 1.6 (u2 is the latest at time of writing)
And an upgraded HD (at least 160GB, pref 320GB). As I've told you in other answers, 80GB is far too small for VistaHP.
