If your talking about Operating System Updates you can do that yourself, either by going to Microsoft's website or by turning on automatic updates. If your talking about hardware updates such as ram or a graphics card again you can do this yourself. It is very easy to install these items and you will save so much money. In my opinion the geek squad at Best buy are extremely over priced. If your really not comfortable doing this stuff yourself, look in the phone book for a PC repair shop in your area chances are they will be alot less then Best buy.

what she said..download spybot search and destroy.ad-aware..and this program called CC Cleaner...download all those and run them once a week. They are all free and keep your computer free of spyware and other bad stuff.

Don't use the bloat-ware installed on your PC and get a free alternatives..
AVG (below) for example is a nice alternative to Symantec for Anti-Virus..
Windows Defender from Microsoft does a decent job at spyware protection..
Finally configure Auto-Update, which will get all the Microsoft Updates
Both can be configured for free, regular updates.

I am assuming that you mean windows updates, And the few programs you have that require them.
You can update windows manually by going to www.windowsupdate.com and scanning your computer.
I dont know what programs you need to update but you can do them also manually.
Hardware updates as in adding ram or installing a video card. You can use the below site to purchase any hardware upgrades you need and honestly you can find how to do it in your computers manual or go online and do a search for how to forums.
If it is hardware make sure you check to get the compitable part for it. STAY AWAY FROM GEEK SQUAED they are over priced and under educated. Im nto saying everyone that works for geek squad is a idiot but if they do have any decent computer knowlage they arent allowed to use it. geek squad isnt into pc repair anymore they are into computer sales its there job to make sure you buy a new pc. What alout of people dont knwo when you sign the paper work to have geek squad look at your pc you sign over the rights to all information on your harddrive best buy is now the proud owner of all your self made porn or what ever you do on your pc and now they are legally allowed to do with it what they please
